He climbed up a tree and hid behind the tree.

He saw forty men on their horses.

40 atlı adam görmüş.

They were carrying bags full of gold coins and jewels.

Onlar içi altın ve mücevher dolu torbalar taşıyorlarmış.

They went to the front of a big rock.

Büyük bir kayanın önüne gelmişler

The leader of the men said,”Open Sesame.

ve adamların lideri ‘Açıl susam’ demiş.

” Open Sesame was a magic word.

‘Açıl susam’ sihirli bir sözmüş.

A big door opened in the rock.

Kayanın içinde büyük bir kapı açımış

And they went into a cave.

ve adamlar mağaranın içine  girmişler.)

Ali Baba thought they were thieves.

(Ali Baba onların hırsız olduğunu düşünmüş.

He waited  on the tree.

Ağacın üzerinde beklemiş

Soon the forty men got out of the cave

Bir süre sonra atlı adamlar dışarı çıkmış

and rode away.

Ve gitmişler

Ali Baba climbed down the tree.

Ali Baba ağaçtan inmiş.

He went to the front of the rock

Kayanın önüne gitmiş

and said,”Open Ssame!”

ve ‘Açıl Susam’ demiş

 

The door opened again.

Kapı tekrar açılmış.

Ali Baba went into the cave.

Ali Baba mağaranın içine girmiş.

 

He saw a lot of gold coins and jewels.

Birçok altın ve mücevher görmüş

He put some gold coins and jewels into the bags

torbalara biraz altın ve mücevher koymuş

and tied the bags onto the horse.

ve torbaları ata bağlamış

He went home.

. Eve gitmiş

He knocked on the door.

Kapıyı çalmış

His wife opened the door.

Karısı kapıyı açmış

When she saw the cold coins and jewels,

Karısı altınları ve mücevherleri görünce

she hugged

Ali Baba’yı kucaklamış

and kissed Ali Baba.

She had never kissed him before.

Ali Baba and his wife began to count the cold coins

but they couldn’t finish them.

So Ali Baba said to his wife,

”Go to my brother Kasım and ask for a scale.

Kasım’ın evine gidip, bir terazi istemesini söylemiş

Kazim was Ali Baba’s brother.

Kazim Ali Babanın kardeşiymiş.

His wife went to Kasım’s house.

Ve karısı Kasım’ın evine gitmiş

Kasım’s wife opened the door.

Kasım’ın karısı kapıyı açmış

She gave a scale to Ali Baba’s wife

Ali Baba’nın karısına teraziyi vermiş

but she wanted to know what they would weigh.

ama teraziyle ne tartacaklarını  bilmek istemiş

So she put some honey under the scale.

Buyüzden terazinin altına biraz bal sürmüş

Ali Baba and his wife weighed the cold coins and jewels.

Ali Baba ve karısı altınları ve mücevherleri tartmışlar

And then his wife gave the scale back to Kasım’s wife.

(ve daha sonra Karısı teraziyi Kasım’ın karısına geri vermiş

She looked at the bottom of the scale.

Kasım’ın karısı terazinin altına bakmış

She saw a cold coin stuck under the scale.

ve bir altının terazinin altına yapıştığını görmüş

She said to Kasım,”Let’s go to Ali Baba’s

ve Kasım’a hadi Ali Baba’ların evine gidip

and learn where they had found the cold coins.

Kasım and his wife went to Ali Baba’s house.

Kasım ve karısı Ali Baba’nın evine gitmişler

Ali Baba  told them the story

Ali Baba onlara hikayeyi anlatmış

and gave them the magic word.

That evening Kasım went to the cave

O gece Kasım mağaraya gitmiş

and cried the magic word.

The door opened.

Kasım went into the cave.

He put some gold coins and jewels into the bags

but he forgot the magic word.

The door didn’t open.

Just then the forty thieves came into the cave and saw Kasım.

O sırada atlı adamlar mağaraya gelmişler ve Kasım’ı görmüşler.

They killed him.

Onu öldürmüşler

Kasım didn’t go home that evening.

O gece Kasım eve gitmemiş

Ali Baba was worried about Kasım,

Ali Baba Kasım için endişelenmiş

so he went to the forest.

ve ormana gitmiş

He looked for his brother

Kardeşini aramış

but he could only find his dead body.

ama onun sadece ölü bedenini bulmuş

He put his dead body on the horse

Onun ölü bedenini atın üstüne koymuş

and went to the cemetary.

He dug a grave.

Bir mezar kazmış

He burried Kasım’s dead body

and went to the village.

The forty thieves went to the cave.

When they couldn’t find Kasım’s dead body,

(Kasım’ın ölü bedenini göremeyince

they realised someone knew their secret.

They went to the village

and asked, ”Who died yesterday?

ve dün kim öldü diye sormuşlar.

Someone said,  “Ali Baba’s brother died yesterday.

Birisi Ali Baba’nın kardeşi öldü demiş

They found Ali Baba’s house

.Onlar Ali Baba’nın evini bulmuşlar

and put a cross on Ali Baba’s door.

ve kapının üzerine bir çarpı koymuşlar

That evening they would come

O gece Ali Baba’nın evine gelip

and kill Ali Baba.

But Ali Baba had a clever servant.

Fakat Ali Baba’nın akıllı bir hizmetçisi varmış

When she saw the cross,

Kapının üzerindeki çarpıyı görünce

she thought someone would harm her master.

and she put crosses on all the doors of the houses in the village.

That evening the forty thieves went to the village to kill Ali Baba

O gece haramiler Ali Baba’yı öldürmek için köye gelmişler

but they couldn’t find Ali Baba’s house.

ama Ali Baba’nın evini bulamamışlar

They went to the mountains again.

Tekrar dağlara  dönmüşler)

The head of the thieves put the other thieves into oil jars and went to Ali Baba’s house.

(Hısızların lideri diğer hırsızları yağ fıçılarının içine  koyarak Ali Baba’nın evine gitmiş.)

He knocked on the  door. (kapıyı çalmış)

Ali Baba opened the door. (Ali Baba kapıyı açmış)

The head of the thieves said, (Hırsızların lideri,

“I am a Merchant. (Ben bir tüccarım)

I have been travelling for a long time.(Uzun zamandır seyahat ediyorum)

I am tired. (yorgunum)

“Can I stay in your house this evening? “ he asked. (bu gece sizin evinizde kalabilir miyim diye sormuş)

Ali Baba said, “Yes, of course!” (Ali Baba ‘tabi ki’ demiş)

While they were  having dinner, (onlar akşam yemeği yerken )

the lights went out. (ışıklar sönmüş)

At that time there was no electricity. (o zamanlar elektrik yokmuş)

They used oil in lamps. (onlar  lambalarda gaz  kullanıyorlarmış.)

Ali Baba’s servant went to the oil jars to take some oil for the lamp. (Ali Baba’nın hizmetkarı yağ fıçılarından lamba için yağ almaya gitmiş)

She opened the lid of an oil jar. (bir fıçının kapağını açmış)

She saw one of the thieves in the oil jar. (fıçının içinde hırsızlardan birini görmüş)

She suspected something. (bir şeyden şüphelenmiş)

She went to the kitchen. (mutfağa gitmiş)

She boiled some oil. (biraz yağ kaynatmış)

She poured the boiling oil onto the heads of the thieves.(kaynamış yağı hırsızların başlarından aşağıya dökmüş)

The thieves screamed and kicked the bucket . (hırsızlar çığlık atarak nalları dikmişler.)
