(İngilizce Yer zarfları)
Yer zarfları bir eylemin nerede olduğunu ifade eder. “Where” sorusuna cevap verir. Cümlede
çoğu zaman fiilden sonra kullanılır.
here, there, near, somewhere, outside, ahead, above, abroad , away, back, inside, indoors,
upstairs, downtown, on the top, at some place (in İzmir, at home, on the ground, etc.).
He is standing near the wall.

They will come here.
(Buraya gelecekler)
He lives somewhere in Turkey.
(O Türkiyenin bir yerinde yaşar)
My boss went abroad yesterday.
(Patronum dün yurt dışına gitti)
He is sitting upstairs.
(Üst katta oturuyor)
I went out.
(Dışarı çıktım)
He turned back.
(Geri döndü)

Here ve there, fiil bu kelimelerin arkasında kullanarak, cümle başında kullanılabilir. Bu
kullanım ifadeyi daha vurgulu yapar. Bu yüzden “işte” diye (“İşte John orada yaşar” gibi)
tercüme edilebilir.
John lives there.
There lives John.
(John orada yaşar)
The policeman comes here.
Here comes the policeman.
(Polis buraya gelir)
John is here.
Here is John.
(John burada)
Fakat bir zamir (I, he, she, it, they, you, we) kullanırsak zamir fiilin önünde kullanılır.
He lives there.
There he lives.
He is here.
Here he is.
