İngilizce Wish – if only
1. Subject + wish + subject + verb (Simple Past) + rest of the sentence.
Bu yapı şimdiki zamandaki bir dileği ifade eder.
I wish I knew Japanese. (Keşke Japonca bilsem.)
He wishes he went to Antalya. (antalya ya gitmeyi istiyor.)
2. Subject + wish + subject + verb (Past Perfect) + rest of the sentence.
Bu yapı geçmiş zamana ilişkin bir dileği ifade eder.
I wish I had passed the exam. (Keşke sınavları geçseydim.)
Mary wishes she had bought a house near the seaside. (Mary deniz kıyısında bir ev almış olmayı istiyor.)
3. If only + subject + verb (Simple Past) + rest of the sentence
Bu yapı 1. kalıp ile aynı anlamı vermektedir.
If only We had more money. (Keşke daha çok paramız olsa.)
If only I knew where he was. (Keşke onun nerede olduğunu bilsem.)
4. If only + subject + verb (Past Perfect) + rest of the sentence
Bu yapı 2. kalıp ile aynı anlamı vermektedir.
If only you had told me the truth. (Keşke bana gerçeği anlatmış alsaydın.)
If only I had acted honestly. (Keşke dürüstce davranmış olsaydım.)
