Hem “How is the weather?” hem de “What is the weather like?” “Hava nasıl?” anlamına gelir.
“Bugün hava nasıl?” diye sormak istiyorsak “How is the weather today?” ya da “What is the weather like today?” şeklinde sorarız. “Bugün hava İstanbul’da nasıl?” diye soruyorsak “What is the weather like today in İstanbul?” ya da “How is the weather today in İstanbul?” şeklinde sorarız.

“It’s raining cats and dogs” İngilizcede çok yaygın kullanılan bir deyimdir. Çok fazla yağmur yağdığını ifade etmek için kullanılır. Türkçeye birebir çevrildiğinde bir anlam ifade etmez, bu deyimin anlamsal olarak Türkçe karşılığı yani eşdeğeri “bardaktan boşanırcasına yağmur yağmak”tır.
“It’s raining cats and dogs” deyiminin kökeni tam olarak bilinmemekle birlikte bu konuda birçok hikaye vardır. Bunlardan biri de; hayvanların eskiden ısınmak için saman çatılara (thatched roof) sığınmaları ve yağmur yağdığı zaman çatıların kaygan olması sonucu hayvanların çatılardan kayarak düştüğü yönündedir. “It is raining cats and dogs (Birebir çevirisi: Kedi köpek yağıyor)” deyiminin de buradan kaynaklandığı düşünülmektedir.
